Find out more about NedLes’ wonderful teacher Nathalie in this article and enjoy her useful tips for fun and tasty activities in the Netherlands.

Nathalie has been working for NedLes since 2023. She has a very kind and open-minded personality and has a natural way of making people around her feel at ease and appreciated. This quality comes in very handy for a teacher, since most students feel slightly nervous while trying to speak in a new language. There is no need for any hesitation to speak Dutch when Nathalie is your teacher! One of her students recently said:
‘You can’t put into words easily how good her classes are, you should just come and see!’
Nathalie loves learning new languages herself and travelling to foreign countries are also things she likes to do in her spare time. Her Spanish is outstanding and she is currently trying to learn some Arabic as well. Even though she is already an advanced speaker of Spanish she still likes to travel to Spanish speaking countries to take Upper Advanced courses. Her other hobbies are singing and yoga and of course she loves… her job!
Nathalie mainly teaches courses from A0 tot B1 and especcially enjoys teaching our beginner crash courses at school.
Favourite restaurant
I don’t have one favourite restaurant, because there are so many great spots in Amsterdam! Recently, I spent a sunny day at Café de Ceuvel in Amsterdam North. You can enjoy delicious (plant-based) food here while sitting by the water—such a treat! I also really love Syrian cuisine, so I regularly go to Tigris en Eufraat on Javastraat for their falafel sandwich. Definitely recommend it! If you’re looking for a more elaborate meal, Sham Oost is also a great place. You immediately feel the Syrian hospitality, and your table quickly fills up with delicious dishes.
Favourite museum
A few weeks ago, I visited Fabrique des Lumières in Amsterdam. Here, art comes to life with beautiful music and light projections. There’s a small room filled with mirrors where you can sit and relax. I found this space so calming, with the changing light reflected in the mirrors and the accompanying music!

Day trip tip
I lived in Haarlem for a while, and on beautiful days, I would often go to Het Wed in the Zuid-Kennemerland National Park. This is a lovely small lake in the dunes. The water there is not as cold as the Dutch sea water because it a shallow lake, with some shelter from dunes and trees. At Het Wed, you can enjoy swimming and then take a walk through the national park! This spot is also easy to reach from Amsterdam Central with a direct train to Overveen. If you get off the train at overveen and your gps to guide you to Het Wed and from there to the beach you will have a beatiful walk!
Favourite podcast
I love learning new languages so I often listen to podcasts in the language I am trying to learn at that time. Since I am currently taking weekly Arabic classes, I regularly listen to a podcast called ‘Learn Levantine Arabic on the go’. Now and then I listen to ‘Little talk in slow French’ to improve my French.
